Cycling Themed Nails for the Two Tunnels Opening!

So a few weeks ago I volunteered at the opening of The Two Tunnels cycle path which starts off the towpath to Bradford-on-Avon. They are now the longest covered cycle path in the UK (and maybe even Europe?) Anyway, I decided to do Bicycle themed nail art to go with the day!!

My favorite is my thumb nail bike! This is the left hand,  I cant say my right hand turned out so neat!

I used Barry M Foil Effects in silver and Barry M Black Nail Paint - most of the designs are done with a nail art brush, but my ring finger was with a dotting tool as done in a previous post (my boyfriend said that they looked like bicycle chains!). Then the checkered design at the end is from a cheap stamping kit I bought recently!

Here's a bit of info about Sustans and also about the Two Tunnels Greenway in case anyone is interested about that side of things!!!

Flower nails

These nails are simple but effective and all you need is a dotting tool or even a bobby pin!

If you've just got your first dotting tools and want a simple design to do this might be for you!

So I started off with a base coat, I'm really liking this pink colour atm so decided upon that one, then using the white I made 5 dots in the flower shape, waited for it to dry and did a further 5 dots in gold using a smaller tool to create another flower on top and finished it off with a pink dot in the middle to tie in all the colours! And as always, finished it all off with a top coat.

I liked the simplicity and ease of this design without taking much time to actually do! Perfect :)

(also, apologies for the quality of the photos...yet again!)

Spring colours!

Seeing as its getting sunnier, I have some spring inspired nail art! Very simple, just base coat, then one colour stripped one way over it and then the other doing the opposite!

These are all Barry M colours as usual! You may have noticed that the bottom colour is from the new textured range - which i like in a pattern but can look a bit like u have just painted acrylic paint on ur nails without embellishment! Hope you like it, even tho it still doesn't feel quite like spring!

Glitter-colour-pattern Combo

Whenever I decide to paint my nails, I always have the same dilemma....

"what design to do this time?"

I love a glamarous bit o' glitter...
I love a beautiful colour...
&
I love a pretty pattern...

So to make me really happy and solve my nail nightmare, I decided to combine them all.

I used three Barry M colours - Silver multi glitter, Cappucino and Greenberry. The design on my ring finger was very simple to do. I used the stardard brush from the glitter, wiped off the excess and dabbed on the lines of colour with one of bottom edges of the brush. I managed to achieve a uniform and parrallel pattern which gave it a crisp look.

I love this design and I hope you do too. I will sooooo be trying a glitter-colour-pattern combo again!

Any requests for designs or colours - leave us a comment below. We all look forward to hearing from you!

Easter Fun!

~Easter is a time for cute and lovely new arrivals in the animal world, so here is our nod to Mother Nature!~

Time to get FROGGYYYY!

These frog are gonna have you hopping with excitement!
I decided to create the cutest frogs you will ever see... and they are definitely the cutest frogs I'VE ever seen!
I used a nude polish for the background colour with an incredibly froggy green for the little faces. To make the eyes I used a dotting tool dipped in white and then black polish.

And then the ingenious part... I used a good old Biro to draw on the mouths. Which is a technique I recommend as long as you have a steady hand and a smooth writer. I will defo be using this in other designs as it worked a treat!!

Get your GIRAFFE on!

So as giraffes are one of my favorite animals I felt the need to put them on my nails and what better time than easter?!

I did a bit of research into previous designs for this and found a lovely detailed giraffe head which inspired my thumb nail (http://nailartgallery.nailsmag.com/nailsbydina/photo/278093/tinas-giraffe-nails), but I also wanted it to have a neck! So this was my result...

To create this design I used my nailart brushes for the first time, which I bought recently for pennies off ebay, and I hope you'll agree it didn't go too badly!

I began with a pale base of a silvery white colour, then I used a thin layer of gold to create the shape of the giraffe. For the detail, I simply used Barry M's Mushroom and Black with various sizes of brushes. As well as a green and pink for the tree that it's peeping from.

I have enjoyed creating this design but it took me a while, so if you want to try it, or something similar, just make sure you have the time so you don't have to rush as we don't want this design GIRAFFING YOU CRAZY!!

p.s. Sorry for the animal puns...
...but it was just so much pun!
